[ the one good thing about your close cr not being involved in the execution is that it's a little easier to look away when it gets to be too much, and kazuki definitely did. so while he looks a bit shaken, still, he's more stable than say, last week.

he's actually settled somewhere with just one earbud in, tapping at a journal with a half a music score written in, but he looks up to offer brad a nod when he hears him. ]

[Good. Kazuki has been shaken up by far too many of these executions. But then again, that just shows how much he cares about people, which isn't a bad thing.

Instead of his usual way of dragging Kazuki along on whatever idea he has to get the kid to focus on something else, he opts to just quietly sit down next to him and peek at the music score. It's not something he can read, but he can put 2 and 2 together and connect it to the music.]

I've seen papers like this before, but I never did anything with 'em. I just know that the different shapes of the notes are how long they're held.

Scores? All musicians use them.

Where they fall on the score is the type of note you're supposed to play. Like an A, or C.

Pretty much, yeah. It's not that hard to read, once you know what to look for.

Aren't there like 29 letters though? 5 lines doesn't seem like enough to make any words.

Music doesn't involve the whole alphabet, Bain-san. It's not for making words, it's just the notes.

But aren't the notes called letters too?

No, they're really just called notes in music.

Right, okay. And what's the symbol at the front of the line for?

[The clef symbol he means.]

The clef? It tells you the pitch of the song.
