Getting there is doable without either, but he won't say no to putting his weight on Brad to make it a smoother few steps there. Not far from his bed, anyways. He'll move to get up and head that way himself.
The bedroom is set up for this, with his dresser and a side table forming a path he could rest his weight on that side if necessary. The brace is for getting around the city, academy, and lab. His home could be laid out to better accommodate him without it.]
